If you're looking at purchasing a computer desk for your office, you need to consider the possible cons of small computer desks. While these compact bits of furniture are ideal if open space is at a premium, they are not ideal if a lot of reference materials, reports, or papers are needed on hand. If your work space needs an open area for a demanding project that requires a great deal of work, then a small desk might just not offer enough space to take care of all the work that needs to be done.
There is the organizational issues, as well. The smaller the desk, the more likely it is to be cluttered and disorganized. Larger desks offer more space, allowing for more organization options. While smaller desks can encourage workers to be more efficient in putting the office together, they also are sometimes just too little space to work for certain offices.
The last disadvantage to owning or using a small computer desk is the need for other furniture to provide func tions that a larger desk would automatically be able to take care of. Examples of this would be the need for file cabinets, CD racks, or book cases. While the majority of office furnishings are designed to be ergonomic or space saving, not all of them will fit into that mold. Consider your needs carefully and consider not only the pros, but also the cons of small computer desks when looking to set up your personal office space.
